Hoop Shop Girls Basketball is a Black-led, Austin-based youth development organization dedicated to empowering young girls through basketball, education, and mental wellness.
Founded nine years ago by Michael Duque—a father who saw how the game changed his daughter’s confidence and life—Hoop Shop creates safe, affirming spaces where girls build strength, self-awareness, and leadership.

Through our holistic “Whole Athlete” model, we blend competitive play with mentorship, academic guidance, and culturally responsive mental wellness. Since our founding, we’ve served more than 500 girls, achieved 100% college enrollment among graduating seniors, and supported over $2 million in scholarships.

At Hoop Shop, the court is more than a game—it’s where young women learn to lead, heal, and thrive.
